Captain's Log — 2010 and Earlier

January 2009

Commander Selak and Major Matthews are settling in as are several of the new Officers aboard the station. Tensions are mounting in the Sphere and it may not be long before there is a major escalation in the war.

December 2008

War has come again to the Dyson’s Sphere, known as Hope One. The Kharian Empire has declared war on and attacked the newly discovered Lacosian people. The Jovhan Democratic Cooperative is overtly concerned with protecting themselves, but covertly wishes to broaden the conflict to include the Federation, there by causing all their enemies and intruders within the Sphere to annihilate themselves leaving the Jovhans to sole occupants of the Sphere.

Brigadier General John Henry Bearkiller has had to organize and mobilize all available resources to protect and defend Federation interests inside and outside the Sphere. He has promoted and assigned Commander Selak of Vulcan to the position of Commanding Officer, of Sentinel Station. Major Jonathan Matthews, has been assigned to the position of Executive Officer as part of the Joint Forces Command Program. Colonel Lars Hutchinson has been assigned to Command a Task Force of Starfleet ships and Marine Corps units tasked with maintaining the safety and security of the civilian shipping lanes to and from the Sphere.

Character Notes

I am going to be playing Commander Selak of Vulcan as my primary character on Hope One for the next year, in a story arc that will span the year and will end on January 3rd 2010. I am doing this to honor my friend Andy. It has been a year since his death in Iraq . He will be missed and I would like to honor his memory by having Commander Selak of Vulcan have a turn in the ‘Big Chair’ for old time sake. “Andrew, I hope I will do Selak justice.” And “Please lord, don’t let me screw this up!”

September 2008

On it's return to the Dyson Sphere (that is Hope One) a Planet suddenly appeared just outside the sphere and The USS Hunter sent Marines to the planet's surface to investigate. Over the first night, those on the "Dark Side" died mysteriously, and Marines on the Daylit side had no problems. While the nature of the deaths was medically easy to determine, the actual cause remains unknown. The players have been tasked with investigating the "new" planet to determine it's nature.

The Cardassians and Romulans have been complicating matters for the Federation. Hope One's CO declared the planet under Quarantine, but 200 Cardassian Colonists (Bound originally for Copernicus Station in the sphere) were were unceremoniously dumped on it's surface by a Ferengi transport captain, who was spooked by a Romulan Vessel that had "only come by" to assist their Fereration counterparts in enforcing the Quarantine.

The earlier loss of all lives of a Marine Platoon on the "Dark Side" of the planet, Has spurred a Scientific Investigation to determine the true cause of the odd deaths.

Federation News Service Bulletin

Just hours ago the Chhashra I'tauk, or Prank Fleet, left Hope 1, reportedly looking for a new group to prank. The Chhashra have been tormenting Hope 1 and its inhabitants for months, utilizing some sort of Phased-Cloaking Devices and Folded-Space Transporters to bypass any and all Security measures and play practical jokes on anyone and everyone.

No serious injuries were reported, although the use of Counseling Services increased by several thousand percent as hundreds if not thousands required psychiatric assistance in dealing with the aftermath of these cruel jokes.

The Chhashra's indiscriminate targeting of all beings within the Sphere brought the various inhabitants together in a temporary alliance to persuade the Chhashra to leave. That alliance has now apparently been successful.

Residents were shocked when the alliance's efforts abruptly decloaked the Chhashra I'tauk, revealing the previously unseen presence of 3,482 Chhashra ships, carrying an unknown number of pranksters. Alliance ships were noted darting among the I'tauk, emitting powerful energy signatures, but the exact method used to persuade the Chhashra to depart remains undisclosed.

Nonetheless, the I'tauk was seen to depart, phasing through the outer wall of the sphere before jumping to Warp. The residents of Hope 1 breathed a sigh of relief as the nightmare of humor ended.

Lieutenant Commander Hrath, Executive Officer of Sentinel Station, made the following statement for the press: "The Chhashra departure was the result of a joint operation by Starfleet, our Romulan allies, and the Cardassian contingent of Hope 1. We also received valuable aid from Bio-Gen Delta, Copernicus Corporation, and Syntax Enterprises. We at Sentinel Station are glad to put this difficult and bizarre period behind us, and we hope that this successful joint operation will strengthen the ties between the Federation and other groups here at Hope 1." The Commander declined to answer any questions.

Notes

We had a change of command this month and have gone about making a few overdue promotions and position changes for our players. Our former CO and XO are both on LOA's and will return to play in the future. A seperate sub plot is brewing for them to explain their re-appearance later on, along with the stories those vets invent and bring home to Hope One when they can. Overall we are a healthy little group, enjoying the dynamics of game-play.

August 2008

The relentless Chhashra continued to play practical jokes of all kinds on the inhabitants of Hope 1. United by a common anger the Federation, Romulan, Cardassian and civilian residents joined in an attempt to rid themselves of these pests, but a great deal of effort yielded little progress.

Then the Lacosians revealed themselves. A maintainence race for the long-gone Builders, the Lacosians maintain the sphere, but suffer from a deadly genetic defect that is wiping out their species. Two representatives came covertly to Sentinel Station seeking aid, and found that their prior encounter with the Chhashra and knowledge of the Sphere gave them something to trade.

Utilizing their diverse abilities, those concerned with the Chhashra quickly rallied, spreading out to divert Chhashra attention and collect information on the aliens' cloaking frequencies. Meanwhile the Lacosians gave the residents access to sphere systems necessary to emit an energy burst from the Sphere sun (Saepio) of the proper size and frequency to disrupt the Chhashra cloak. In a cunning plan, the residents acquired an aerosol from Bio-Gen Delta - one specially formulated to act as a depressant on the ebulient Chhashra. The plan is to transport large amounts of the gas aboard the decloaked Chhashra ships, in effect pranking them back and proving that the residents of Hope 1 DO in fact have a sense of humor. The hope is that this will cause the Chhashra to search for new victims...but will the plan succeed?

July 2008

Sentinel Station has come together with the Cardassian Ambassador and the representatives of Copernicus Corporation and Syntax Enterprises to find a way to stop the Chhashra and their wave of practical jokes. Meanwhile, the reclusive Lacosians, created by the Builders as the maintenance-workers of the sphere, have emerged from their isolation to ask for help with a genetic defect they suffer from called the Rasp. General Bearkiller has declared First Contact Protocols for both encounters, although most personnel are looking much more benevolently upon the Lacosians than the Chhashra, as everyone has been the victim of a number of practical jokes.

June 2008

The practical jokes that have been plaguing the station have increased in severity, it started out just as items being suddenly gone to the sonic showers colouring the crew in all different colours. Recently it have taken a turn for the worse again, the gravity plating have been affected and also other major systems like the transporters, universal translators and replicators. The source of the practical jokes have still not been discovered but the crew are working as fast as they can and trying not to get stuck in some awkward situation.

There is also a major project in the works on Sentinel Station, with the Formation of the Sphere Consultive and Advisory Council the fruits of this cooperations is starting to show, and all the participants are working on this project.

May 2008

The crew finished repairing the damage to the sphere's Solar Energy Transfer Beam and returned to their stations for some down-time. The non-Federation merchants and ambassadors of Hope 1 have been busy cooking up business deals and relationships, while the Federation personnel welcomed the returning General Bearkiller after his highly-secret mission. Plans have begun to circulate in the Command Staff regarding building a ship to house and test the newly discovered Builder Drive. Unfortunately, the peace has been marred by a series of notably humorless practical jokes. The XO has begun cracking down on this unprofessional conduct, but the jokes have become more and more elaborate, many beginning to relate to high-level maintenance and computer security systems. Moreover, Internal Sensor evidence seems to show a high level of technical sophistication at work. Many are beginning to wonder if these are in fact simple pranks...

April 2008

As the residents of Hope 1 resumed their daily routines they were unaware that mercenaries with shadowy employres had entered the inner depths of the sphere. Routine was broken when the mercenaries failed in their mission to gain control of sphere systems, and instead scrambled the beam-down coordinates of the sphere's energy transfer beams, resulting in death raining from the sky. A diverse Away Team assembled to solve what they believed was a mere mechanical problem, but they were rudely disabused of that notion when the mercenaries detonated a bomb meant to kill them all. Fortunately emergency sphere systems teleported everyone out safely, but the scrambled computer sent them out in pairs separated by variable distances. Lost and isolated the various pairs had to deal with mercenaries attempting to hunt them down, hunger, thirst, and the security systems of a sphere that now erroneously labeled them enemies. Two security officers were lost, but most of the Away Team managed to reunite and is preparing to repair and leave the sphere. In addition, several officers are reporting having made amazing discoveries: a record of the Exodus path taken by the Builders when they left…and a working copy of the engine they used to travel unprecedented distances.

March 2008

The pace slowed down somewhat on Hope 1 as the crew relaxed after a rough anti-piracy mission. Relationships were developed and new friendships were formed. The break was capped by a promotion ceremony that affected Hope 1 veterans and newcomers alike. Elated the crew proceeded to celebrate in a long-planned party that rocked the Promenade (and ended with several crewmembers in beds not their own.) The party over the crew slowly recovered from the consumption of too much real alcohol, and is proceeding back to normal operations.

Federation News Service Bulletin

At a joint press conference announced only hours ago, representatives of all major powers currently in the Sphere (designated Hope 1 by the Federation) have announced that a Secret Emergency Summit meeting had been called following the recent Kharian-Johvani conflict. The Summit brought together representatives from the United Federation of Planets, the Johvani Democratic Cooperative, the Romulan Star Empire, the Cardassian Union and the Kharian Empire. In their press release the representatives announced the formation of a Sphere Consultive and Advisory Council, a body that will allow the governments of the various powers to communicate formally regarding relations within the sphere, as well as negotiate items of contention in the area.

Additionally the Council has been authorized by the various governments to conduct research into the technology and workings of the sphere. Due to past hostilities, the research will be conducted by private corporations, with contract terms determined and negotiated by the Council. The contracts will be funded by the United Federation of Planets, as it holds legal sovereignty over the area. However, all information except that the UFP deems vital to Sphere security will be released to the Johvani Democratic Cooperative, and a wide variety of data will be routinely declassified and distributed to the various member governments of the Council. The representatives declined to comment on whether private corporations would be given control of key sphere systems such as the Sphere doors or sun shields.

Experts have speculated that this move signals a resignation by the various governments of claims to universal jurisdiction over the sphere and its contents. However, the majority of the representatives at the conference declined to comment on this, and the JDC representative explicitly denied that it could be interpreted as such.

The Federation representative, Ambassador Rachel Mawksly, was secretly brought all the way from the Alpha Quadrant by fast courier to participate in these negotiations. She hailed the agreement as a precursor to a new era of peace and cooperation in the sphere. "Now that we have a venue for discussion of problems I'm confident that all items of contention can be worked out in a way that is beneficial to all parties." She also gave a good deal of credit to Ambassador Du Lac, former CO of Sentinel Station, the Federation Outpost in the area. "Ambassador Du Lac laid the ground-work for what we were able to achieve here today, and I know she will be overjoyed to learn of this agreement."

The Cardassian representative, Ambassador Kota Magar also saw the agreement as issuing in a new balance within the sphere. "The Cardassian people look forward to a both mutually beneficial and harmonious co-existence with the other powers." The Romulan, Johvani and Kharian representatives were not available for comment. Speculation is rife that Johvani Prime Minister Sorr was forced to that table by the recent wave of protests sparked by his attack on the Kharian ship KIN'VAELYN, an attack that resulted in the destruction of the Johvani Defense Fleet. Sorr negotiated in secret, and brought the Summit agreement to the Johvani Senate immediately before the press conference, where they approved his decision with a good deal of fanfare. Experts have opined that Sorr's position, although weakened by the recent unrest, was shored-up by his decision to broker a peace-deal. They point to the recent bill he pushed through the Senate, which authorized the rebuilding and modernization of the Johvani Defense Fleet, as proof that Sorr's grip on power is still firm.

As the new Sphere Consultive Council begins to create contracts to investigate the sphere and its technology, private corporations have begun preparing to bid on these contracts. In particular there is speculation that Copernicus Corporation and Bio-Gen Ltd.; the two major corporations with a significant presence in the sphere, may end up vying for the lucrative contracts. Bio-Gen Delta CEO Angelina Sharapova announced "Today we have been presented with the opportunity to bid on lucrative contracts within the Sphere itself. In an attempt to keep non-human interest from a monopoly on such contracts, Bio-Gen Delta Quadrant will take part in the procedure. It is our expressed hope to further the development of Genetic solutions to human problems by participating in this unique opportunity." It is unknown if Bio-Gen is referring only to contracts regarding Builder genetic engineering technology, or if this move heralds a shift of the focus of the company. Copernicus Corportation representatives could not be reached for comment.

February 2008

The battle for the pirate base comes to an end, with the Shivers leaving before they get destroyed and the Hunter cleaning up the rest of the pirates. In the Sphere the Kharian vessel finally makes itself known, with various reactions from the different factions in the sphere. It ends out with the newly created Jovhan fleet attacking the Kharian vessel. Shivers and Hunter return to the sphere and reunite with the crew on the station.

January 2008

The USS Hunter mission continues, the away mission managed to capture the pirate ship and renamed it SS Shivers. They found plans on the pirate base and a plan to attack it was created. The Hunter rescued the civilian freighter, handed it over to the Orion owners and then met up with the Shivers.

On the station a party is in the plannings, it is a joint cooperation between Starfleet/Marine Corp and the Copernicus Corperation. The Cardassians are still causing trouble and the Romulans has gone AWOL (not really, but they only left a battalion of legionaries in the embassy).

Also the Kharians have revealed themself again, planning on making their move against the Sphere.

December 2007

The Diplomatic meeting with the Jovhans continue. Federation Ambassador Pathera Du Lac is in charge of the talks with the Jovhans, although not much progress has been made. The Jovhan underground movement makes a deal with a new merchant on Hope 1 trying to acquire means to use in their struggle against Prime Minister Sorr.

On Sentinel Station the new Cardassian ambassador arrives getting greeted with mixed feelings. The Search for Ferrell is still ongoing but has also proved fruitless.

After the initial discovery of pirate activity by the USS Francis Drake and receiving intel from Colonel Ferrell, General Bearkiller sent the USS Hunter under the command of Colonel Hutchinson and Lieutenant Hrath to investigate further. The Hunter is also to deploy a new network of sensor probes developed by intelligence officer Richards. Recent events has forced the Away mission to split in two. One group investigate a pirate ship which they detected close by while the Hunter goes to rescue a commercial freighter under attack by pirates.

September 2007

Outpost Hope One is once again a calm and peaceful place in the post war Delta Quadrant. Federation Merchant Marine vessels have returned to pre-war schedules and have delivered materials and replacement to Hope One.

The exploration of the Sphere continues. Some interesting things have been discovered on the inner surface of the Sphere. The Science Departments two rising stars, Ensign O'Connell and Ensign O'Connell are continuing their analysis and planning the next Away Mission.

On the Diplomatic front, Ambassador Du Lac is gearing up to open diplomatic communications with the Jovhan again. While Prime Minister Sorr seeks to increase his hold on the Jovhan people.

A new treat appears in the area. Pirate activity around Hope One is on the rise. Commander Reyn is taking the USS FRANCIS DRAKE out to investigate the site of recent attacks on commercial shipping.

August 2007

Outpost Hope One is once again a calm and peaceful place in the post war Delta Quadrant. General Bearkiller and the crew of the USS FRANCIS DRAKE have returned from the liberation of Starbase Phoenix. It is a time of growth and prosperity in and around the Sphere. Federation Merchant Marine vessels have returned to pre-war schedules and have delivered materials and replacement to Hope One.

Now the crew of Hope One turns toward the peaceful mission of scientific analysis and exploration of the Sphere itself.

Non-Roleplay

New additions to the crew make their mark on the station. Ensign Finn O'Connell, Ensign Quinn O'Connell, Ensign Devlin Trask, and Ensign ArdusTroi have made new friends and pushed forward the plot. The arrival of Thasin Al'Rasgal an Orion Trader is sure to shake things up.

Hope One has also seen the return of several veterans. Lieutenant Colonel Quincy Traswell has returned from combat duty in the Alpha Quadrant to assume command of the 21st MEF. Pathera Du Lac has returned to Hope One, to assume the post of Federation Ambassador. Lieutenant Commander Selak of Vulcan returns to the Delta Quadrant to assume the Chief Engineer position on Outpost Hope One. His last post in the Delta was Chief of Operations of Starbase Horizon, under the Command of then Colonel Bearkiller.

August 2006

The Federation and the Johvani Democratic Cooperative currently at odds with one another over control of the Sphere. The newly elect Prime Minister, Tan'den Sorr continues to push for the removal of all Federation Personnel from the Sphere. This has caused tensions to run high. The Federation has evacuated all surface installations, turning over the newly constructed Marine Corps Base Camp Gor'Vosh back to the Johvans. Prime Minister Sorr has push through his own agenda in the government. The Jovhani have created their own Military organization. They are also making their own scientific and engineering investigations of the Sphere.

The Star Empire has increased its presence within the Sphere as well. The Tal Shiar War Bird, Tal Pri'ex has been assigned to Hope One to assist the Federation in holding the Geroch Wormwhole. The Cardassians might make a strategic attack take control of the Wormhole to limit/close traffic between.

The USS FREEMANTLE, a Federation Merchant Marine Bulk Cargo Carrier en route to Outpost Hope One carrying replacement personnel and bulk supplies and materials hit a Proximity Subspace Mine. The mine placed there by the Cardassians didi significant damage to the FREEMANTLE. The subspace explosion disrupted communications to the Alpha Quadrant. General Bearkiller dispatched the USS VIGILENT under the command of Colonel Smyth, and the USS HUNTER under the command of Major Traswell to investigate the issue. The Tal Pri'ex equested to accompany the two ships.

The three ships arrived on the Alpha side of the Geroch Wormhole to discover two (2) Cardassian Keldon Class vessels moving to attack the FREEMANTLE. They have thus far moved to engage the Cardassian Vessels.

February 2006

Things have been a diplomatic hell for the crew of Outpost Hope One. The Romulan Embassy was established just as relations between the Federation and the Johvan (the recognized owners of the Hope One Dyson sphere) are at their worst. The Johvan have yet to ratify a Federation constitution, which would make them full members of the UFP, due to fears that this will be the first step towards the Federation subjugating them just as the Builders (of the sphere) did millennia ago. This fear has been fostered and taken advantage of by the new Johvani Prime Minister, Tanden Sorr, who has only his own lust for power in mind. His supporters gathered in throngs around Marine Base Gor?Vosh to protest Federation involvement. Sorr has used his momentum to try to gain support for ending the alliance with the Federation, which would effectively mean that all Federation activity and presence would need to cease. We would need to leave the sphere and our game would be over.

Anti-Federation sentiment increased with the development of a night/day cycle within the sphere. Up until now there were no dark hours in any part of the sphere. Recently some ancient inner workings of the sphere became active and deployed four solar shields around Saepio, the star enclosed by the sphere. This seriously messes with Johvani climate and culture, particularly their religion which is essentially sun worship. They get even more pissed at us.

While our scientists and engineers try to figure out what the hell is going on with the sphere, Sorr is just kicking back and letting the anger of his people grow. The more angry they are with the Federation, the greater the chance they will vote to end the alliance. Sorr placed spies posing as Johvani scientists within our research camp at the northern pole of the sphere. They were ordered to report when exactly the Federation was to release their findings so that Sorr could call for the vote to end the alliance. In this way he could let anti-Federation sentiment grow until the final possible moment.

Our security forces uncovered this plot and created a ruse to keep the spies from knowing exactly when we were prepared to release our findings. Sorr discovers that communications between his spies has been compromised and realizes that if the Johvani people find out what that he?s linked to these spies he would be quickly removed from office. As a result he publicly reveals the existence of these spies and calls for their arrest. The Johvani spymaster, Maj?her Doksu, angry that Sorr betrayed him and now afraid for his life, turns himself in to Federation authorities.

With the help of Sorr's chief opposition, Senator Sho'Vahn Housyn, the Federation release their findings publicly to the entire sphere before Sorr can call for a vote. The findings are definitely not what the Johvani want to hear since the night/day cycle can not be reversed. Furious, Sorr orders the assassination of Housyn and for his supporters to charge the gates of Marine Base Camp Gor'Vosh and the polar research camp.

A weird sort of battle ensues. Since we're still technically allies with the Johvan and we want to keep it that way, we cannot afford to kill a single Johvani who charges our gates. But we can't afford to let them overrun us, either. Vastly outnumbered, Federation Marines and Security officers set their phaser rifles to stun with wide beams, and drop every last one of the mob. The only Johvani who die are the ones trampled by their own numbers.

This is going to create a problem for Sorr's vote to end the alliance with the Federation since many of his supporters are now injured, unconscious, or in jail. This opens the door for Housyn's voice of reason and also for Pathera Du Lac, the former CO of Hope One who has retired from Starfleet but is now returning as a Federation Ambassador.

November 2005

General Bearkiller is settling in trying to determine what course of action to take. The Jovhans are growing restless with the Federation presence in the Sphere. The Sphere is going through some changes in the wake of the ship collision. Many of the Sphere's automated systems have started to come back on line. One of which is a Solar Array/Shield that creates Day and Night by casting a shadow on the inner-surface of the Sphere as it orbits the star at the center of the Sphere.

This is causing mass hysteria in the Jovhan culture that has developed un total daylight conditions for the last several hundred years. The USS FRANCIS DRAKE has deployed the final sensor array. When it comes online we will have complete visibility and communications in every direction outside the Sphere.

Repairs are coming along on the USS HUNTER which is docked at the Okuda Spacedock near Sentinel Station.

September 2005

The crew of the USS HUNTER embarked on their mission to deploy a series of sensor arrays around the outside of the Hope One Dyson sphere. Due to some technical difficulties (to say the least) the sphere's door close on their own and a series of EM pulses wreak havoc on the HUNTER and cut off all communications with Sentinel Station, Camp Gor'Vosh, and all other installations within the sphere. The EM pulse caused the crash of Commander Du Lac's shuttle, causing injuries to herself, a Johvan Senator, and the death of a Federation ambassador. Eventually it is determined that a dead freighter colliding with the sphere doors caused the lock down and the EM pulses. At this time it is believed to be the result of an ancient defense mechanism designed by the Builders of the sphere.

An SAR mission to retrieve Commander Du Lac and company is led by MCapt Traswell. It is messy but successful.

Commander Du Lac's injuries worsen and her empathic link with Lt. Col. Lars Hutchinson takes a toll on him as well. Both commanding officers go into a deep coma. MCapt Traswell assumes command of the USS HUNTER.

Thanks to some finagling by Lt. Com. Northwood's bitchen team of scientists, Sentinel Station restores communications with the HUNTER.

Sentinel Station uses the EM pulses against the sphere itself to destroy the nasty mines that were beating up the HUNTER and to override the locks on the sphere doors.

A small fleet of Federation ships show up to lend support to the HUNTER, including the USS VIGILENT, led by no other than Brigadier General John Henry Bearkiller.

Bearkiller has Hutchinson and Du Lac immediately med-evaced to the Alpha Quadrant and places Northwood in command of Sentinel Station, Traswell in command of Camp Gor?Vosh, and himself as interim CO of Outpost Hope One.

Lately relations between the Johvan and the Federation have been strained. Bearkiller is heading diplomatic relations with the Johvan. Northwood is leading a scientific probe into the inner workings of the sphere. Traswell is skippering the USS Francis Drake on a mission to finish the deployment of the sensor arrays.

August 2005

Current Situation Overview

The Dyson Sphere, called Hope One built by an ancient race referred to as the Builders, is now home to a couple of races, the Jovhans and as yet unnamed/undiscovered others. The Federation has built a Space Station called Sentinel Station inside the Sphere, and a Marine Base Camp called Marine Corps Base (MCB) Camp Gor?Vosh on the inner surface of the Sphere. The mission of Sentinel Station is to explore, research, and analyze the Sphere. The mission of MCB Camp Gor?Vosh is to protect and defend the inhabitants and Federation personnel and installations assigned to the Sphere.

The Sphere is a huge semi-automated construct. Some of the automated systems work and some don?t work reliably and some don?t work at all. One system, a previsouly unknown security system has recently become active. The Security System, detected the approach of a derelict space craft on a collision course with the Sphere. It reacted to the ship by closing and locking the Space Doors that allow access to the Sphere and inverting the EM field of the entire Sphere creating a Force Field.

The derelict space craft crashed into the doors of the Sphere, causing Commander Du Lac?s Shuttle to crash. She was on her way from the USS HUNTER, a Marine ship assigned to Outpost Hope One, back to Sentinel Station. The USS HUNTER was outside the Sphere on a mission to deploy Communications and Sensor Arrays around the outside of the Sphere.

The USS HUNTER moved to begin salvage operations to clear the debris from the Doors. While doing so it was hit by several cloaked mines that appear to be left over defenses the Builders had used to defend the Sphere. She took heavy damage suffering several hull breeches. She also dispatched a SAR mission to recover Commander Du Lac?s ship.

The SAR Mission was successful. Captain Traswell and his team returned to the HUNTER with Commander Du Lac and the rest of the Shuttle occupants. Commander Du Lac is in a coma in Sickbay. She will be transported back to Betazed for treatment. Lt Commander Northwood is in command of Sentinel Station inside the Sphere. Captain Traswell is in command of the USS HUNTER outside the Sphere. Communications between the two has been restored. Now we need to figure out how to get the doors opened again.

April 2005

The USS Hunter, a Marine vessel, has taken much of Sentinel Station?s crew outside of the Dyson Sphere, Hope One. The crew's mission is to deploy a series of six sensor arrays which will, when put into place, afford Sentinel Station with a complete sensor view of all sides of the sphere. The mission, led by Lt. Colonel Lars Hutchinson (Sentinel Station, Dyson Sphere Hope One XO) and Marine Captain Quincy Traswell (Camp Gor'Vosh XO) has successfully deployed the first array with the assistance of Jovhan Senator Sho'Vahn Housyn.

The first deployment in the series of six brought Commander Pathera Du Lac (Sentinel Station, Dyson Sphere Hope One CO) from within the sphere to witness the event. Once the array was deployed, Commander Du Lac, along with Senator Housyn, and Ambassador Rousseau, took a shuttle and headed back for the sphere. Meanwhile, the USS Hunter began toward the location of the second sensor array. The shadow of the Hunter puts the Shuttle craft outside of communications range, making communications impossible between the small craft and the USS Hunter.

Looming in the distance, a hulking mass of a ship, draws ever closer to Dyson Sphere Hope One, unmanned. Both the shuttle and the unmanned ship approach the sphere and the shuttle tries to enter the space doors before the ship collides with them. Realizing, too late, that they're not going to make it, the shuttle pulls away, skids across the surface of the sphere and crashes, with Commander Du Lac, Senator Housyn, and Ambassador Rousseau inside.

The ship, the Mystic Star, approaches the sphere disrupting its Electromagnetic field, and triggers a long dormant defense system inside the sphere. The defense system shuts the doors and the Mystic Star crashes into the space doors of the Sphere. Commander Du Lac's shuttle launched a distress Buoy, though having skittered along the outside of the sphere for some distance the USS Hunter will have to search for the craft before finding it. It is also possible that the Hunter believes the shuttle made it through the doors before the Mystic Star crashed, and that there is no shuttle to look for.

Commander Du Lac and crew of the shuttle have 120 hours before they're out of air, and out of time.

Inside the sphere our science team is lost in the Builder Ruins on the Sphere's inner surface and Commander Northwood is trying to hold down the fort at Sentinel Station.

May 2002

During the formal re-opening ceremony of the Sphereport which is finally completed after three years of construction and three years after the destruction of its predecessor, the GorVosh station, a cobalt explosive device detonated killing several guest and injuries dozens more. The whole station is now on full alert trying to figure out who is to blame. Also on the station is a ranking Intelligence Officer tasked to learn as much as he can on the Kharian ship the Hope One crew managed to capture several weeks ago but the crew feels he has something darker planned.

March 2002

The Kharians have already in their possession of the data modules from the freighter gained from the recent attack on a Federation freighter. This rogue fleet under the command of a well known Kharian captain from a prestigious Warrior Clan has ordered his fleet to start packing up their operation. One of their ships, a scout, has been boarded the Francis Drake’s Marine contingent and taken over the crew. The Hope One Command crew, recently rescued from the surface is discussing the actions to be taken. It has been agreed upon that the Drake would send over another group of Marines led by CWO3 Watson just to ensure that the Kharian ship stays in our hands for further analysis of their technology. After the deployment of the Marines, the Drake will most likely give chase to the Kharians and assist the fighter squadron of Hope One in defending the freighter.

February 2002

The away team has finally stopped the earthquakes that have been going on the surface of the sphere due to malfunctioning machinery. The Francis Drake under the command of Major Hutchinson has broken through the Kharian ships and is standing by to beam the away team back. The Marines had boarded one of the Kharian scout ships and in the process of taking it over. The Kharian lead ship has however taken over a Federation freighter and stolen their data modules for reasons still unknown to the Hope One crew.

December 2001

With the discovery of the complex beneath the Jovhan settlement, the crew of Hope One splits into two and starts investigation on both sites. The team of Commander Bard has discovered the remains of an unknown alien that is thousands of years old. They have yet to determine if the corpse is the remains of the Jovhan, the Kharians or their former masters, the builders of the Sphere. If so, this discovery may lead the crew to learning more about the technologically advanced race of the builders. The only sign of the cause of the alien’s death is a stab wound inferred due to the hit on the alien’s spine.

Also, the presence of ancient machinery that recently reactivated reinforces the crew’s theory that it is the builder’s technology that is causing the quakes on the surface.

November 2001

The Jovhan settlement on the surface recently suffered an unnatural disaster. An alien source is being investigated due to the fact that the sphere is not supposed to have seismic activity. The crew, most of the staff on the surface, is already on the verge of finding the location of the ancient technology left by the builders.

October 2001

The apprehension of a security officer revealed that he was a member of the True Way. Following an intensive investigation and interrogation, they suspect revealed their plans and the head of the True Way cell in Hope One . The crew managed to apprehend the mastermind and the other double agents responsible for the kidnapping and assault of Cmdr Aldros, hopefully closing the case. In the introduction to the next plot, the crew has discovered that they have been under surveillance.
